“The Captivating Vigan City In It's Holiday Season Celebration”

Christmas and other holiday gatherings have changed, since the COVID-19 pandemic started. It’s been stressful for everyone, adults and children alike. So, it’s important to keep celebrating and getting together in creative ways. Special celebration times, like Christmas can help ease “pandemic fatigue” by connecting safely with family, relatives, and friends.

As more people get vaccinated, gatherings become safer. But not all children are vaccinated, and some people with weak immune systems or medical conditions might still get sick, even after being vaccinated. So, we still need to take precautions on our movement from place to place. Thus, we always adhere to government and health protocols for the safeness of everyone.

Christmas celebration of Bigueños, as we have observed is not that as it was for the last years that had passed, due what we are facing nowadays. The pandemic is not a hindrance to each and every residence of Vigan City because they still celebrated Christmas as it was to be. Each and every household and family had their own gatherings, inviting friends and relatives as I mentioned, to ease the boredom and stress that brought about by the pandemic.

During the Christmas season in Vigan City, there had been no rise of cases, thus people from every town and barangays went to the groceries and markets to buy for their “Noche Buenas” for the Christmas Celebration. Following all the guidelines, on how to avoid and prevent the spread of the pandemic had been roll-out and it has been educated to everyone; thus, Christmas celebration was a great day for every Bigueño and all residents of every town in the province.

Christmas celebration in Vigan City is really different as if we recall from the previous years that had passed. To this year 2021, all programs are to be celebrated through online or what they called it as “virtual presentations”, in which each participants used computers to join in the said celebration.  Christmas celebration for every Bigueños is not that as “extravagant” coz, no carnivals, no roller coasters, and minimal food fairs, but Christmas was celebrated for every family, relatives, and friends in their own way, to thank Our Almighty God as it could be in their own safest way.
