The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life, worldwide and presents challenge to each and every human being to public health, food systems and the world work. It affects the economy and social disruption caused by the pandemic, it devastated tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty. Lockdowns to every barangays, municipalities, cities, and provinces as well are implemented to suppressed the spread of the virus and to prevent of losing one’s life. The pandemic really harms the health, social and economic well-being worldwide, with women at the center.

First and foremost, women are leading the health response; women make up almost 70% of the health care workforce, exposing them to a greater risk of infection. At the same time, women are also shouldering much of the burden at home, given school and child care facility closures and longstanding gender inequalities, and unpaid work. Women are really affected, especially in the workplace compared to men’s ability to do such jobs. Gender magnified this effects, with discriminatory impact on women’s economic opportunities and increase the burden of care work. Women also face high risk of jobs and income loss, during time of crisis and quarantine.

Restoring resilient futures for women relies on concerted commitments from governments, civil society, donors and the international community to rebuild inclusive economies. That means, prioritizing the right to safe and decent economic opportunities, financial services, social networks, social protection, redistributed unpaid care and laws supporting gender equality among men and women in the workplace.

Gender responsive activities in which a women must be empowered; design and implement livelihood alternatives that respond to the needs of women, ensure equitable management wherein women are involved, and increase number of women benefitting from community-based tourism and livelihood programs.

Empowering women during the pandemic is really of great importance because a man can not live without a woman, especially during this such kind of arising problems and pandemic in the community. Thus, for gender equality especially during this pandemic, women must be given the right opportunity just like a man and discrimination must be removed for a better economy and community.
